Competition & Events Sponsorship

Throughout the year, Special Olympics local programmes run over 100 local and regional competitions.  These competitions can range from a single sport event to multi sports festivals.

By staging competitions throughout the country we help to raise public awareness of the strengths and capabilities of people with a learning disability both on the sports field and in their family and community lives.  Above all we aim to promote the social inclusion of our athletes, assisting them to participate to the best of their abilities as productive and respected members of society.

Regular competitive opportunities are important for our athletes.  An expanded programme of competitions will act as an incentive to our athletes as will the increased opportunities to progress from local to international levels

Every four years there is also an opportunity to support Team GB at World Games (Summer and Winter alternating every two years).  The 12th World Summer Games will take place in Shanghai, China 2-11th October 2007.
