19/01/10 – Special Olympics Bolton Lads and Girls Club received a donation of £300 from the recently opened Domino’s Pizza store at Blackburn Road in Bolton on Monday 11, January.
Domino’s Pizza franchisee for this store, Filipe Maia e Silva, said: “We are passionate about supporting Special Olympics GB, it is a very worthwhile charity and we hope to do all we can to help. Some of the athletes from the local group came to visit recently and we gave them a guided tour and let them have a go at making their own pizzas. They had a great day and it was a pleasure to have them at the store.”
Karen Edwards, representative from the local Special Olympics group added: “Bolton Lads & Girls Club is delighted that Domino’s Pizza has chosen to support Special Olympics GB this year. The money will ensure that many children and young people who have additional needs will have the opportunity to learn new skills, participate in a range of sporting activities, compete at the highest level and achieve great things. We are also delighted that the local store is keen to develop their relationship with us and we look forward to building that partnership and creating opportunities for joint working over the coming year.”
Dominos’ Pizza partnership with Special Olympics GB started in 2007 and focuses on raising the profile of the charity at local level.
